Three Russian runners disqualified for doping

The All-Russian Athletics Federation (VFLA) announced the disqualification of three Russian runners Inga Abitova, Anastasia Kapachinskaya and Denis Alekseev for violating the anti-doping rules of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

According to the ARAF, after rechecking doping samples from the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, athletes were found to have dehydrochloromethyltestosterone, and Kapachinskaya was also found to have stanozolol.

Previously, runners have already been disqualified for the use of substances prohibited by the IAAF, as well as deprived of the won medals.

Recall that as a result of rechecking doping samples, the IOC has already deprived Russia of 22 medals received at the Olympics in Beijing in 2008 and in London in 2012.

As reported by NRK, the overall retesting of samples for the presence of doping in the medalists of the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympics showed 63 positive results.

According to the publication, in total, a re-check revealed 110 facts of doping by athletes from both Olympics. Among the caught participants 15 are the owners of gold medals.

As specified by NRK, illicit drugs were found in participants of the games from 19 countries, including Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Germany, etc.
