The Novgorod District Court arrested Grigory Smirnov, coordinator of the election headquarters of Alexei Navalny in Veliky Novgorod, for five days. He was found guilty of disobeying the lawful order of a police officer (part 1 of article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) to protest against corruption on June 12, reports . Novgorod.ru
The police claim that Smirnov pushed his shoulders during the arrest and "tried to hide by quickening his pace." At the same time, the video presented as evidence did not contain a fragment with the detention of the activist. According to Smirnov, the police did not tell him that he was detained, but "invited" him to get into the car.
