The head of Roskomnadzor demanded from Pavel Durov "to fulfill Russian legislation"

The head of Roskomnadzor Alexander Zharov turned to the owner of Telegram Pavel Durov with a request to provide data on the messenger. His application is published on the website of the department.

The department needs information about Telegram to add it to the register of the organizers of the dissemination of information (Ori).

“One requirement, and it is simple: fill out the questionnaire sent by the company about the company that controls Telegram,” said Zharov’s appeal to Durov and the messenger team. “The time allotted by Roskomnadzor is expired.”

As RNS said the President of the Russian Federation on the development of the Internet, German Klimenko, commenting on Zharov’s appeal, all participants in the Internet industry “should be equal before the law”:

“My career for an adviser, as I recall, began with the question of the question about Telegram, I replied that sooner or later Pavel Durov will have to fulfill the laws of countries on the territory of which it works. And yes, all market players should be equal in relation to the enforcement of laws. ”

Earlier, RKN has repeatedly warned that in case of refusal to provide them, the messenger would be blocked in Russia. Zharov in June declared his intention to personally demand from Durov information about Telegram.

In the official group of the VKontakte messenger, it is reported that the Telegram update for Andriod will have support for the proxy on the SOCKS 5 protocol. According to TJURNAL, so the messenger has prepared for the detour of possible blocking. Through this protocol, messages are sent "bypassing any future restrictions."

In Russia, since 2017, the organizers of the distribution of information on the Internet should store user correspondence within six months. In addition, they are obliged to provide the content of the correspondence at the request of the authorities and the possibility of its decoding.

The Telegram administration stated that the Russian authorities would not receive a “not bit” information. According to representatives of the messenger, encryption keys are divided into several parts and stored in the data centers, which are located in different jurisdictions.
