The State Duma agreed with the blocking of anonymizers and VPN

The State Duma in the first reading unanimously approved the draft law on the ban on bypassing Internet blocks. 363 deputies voted for, the broadcast of the meeting was conducted on the website of the lower house of parliament.

The bill is about, including about the anonymizers and VPN services. In the event that such services and resources refuse to block access to the information prohibited in Russia, they themselves will be blocking.

If the providers refuse to limit access to the anonymizers, they are proposed to be fined up to 700 thousand rubles.

One of the co -authors of the bill, United Russia, Maxim Kudryavtsev, speaking with a report, said that the initiative does not suggest "no additional prohibitions, since these resources are already prohibited."

The document was made to the State Duma on June 8. The Internet Ombudsman Dmitry Marinichev called the bill "madness", according to him, this initiative "is contrary to common sense."

In April, Vedomosti wrote that Roskomnadzor was working on a similar bill. At the end of 2016, the department began a massive blocking of anonymizers.
