Duma banned the "mirror" of pirate sites

The State Duma in the third reading approved a bill on blocking copies of pirate sites. The broadcast of the meeting was on the website of the parliament.

The bill introduces the concept of “copy” of a blocked site, it is a site “similar to mixing” with a blocked resource. Not only state bodies, but also copyright holders will be able to initiate a blocking of copies.

Search systems, according to the initiative, will be required to remove the link to pirate sites from the search results.

The Ministry of Culture also proposed to introduce the procedure for pre -trial blocking of sites on the application of the copyright holder. The blocking process, thus, was planned to be reduced to two days. The deputies rejected this proposal of the ministry.

“Anti -Pirate Law” was adopted in 2013. According to him, sites that illegally applying the content to which copyright apply should be deleted such materials by decision of the court. Since 2015, amendments on the lifelong blocking of sites after repeated violation of the law have entered into force.
