The founder of the Seventh Studio, the Gogol Gogol Center, Kirill Serebrennikov, called the suspicions of law enforcement agencies unreasonable, related to the financing of theatrical projects. The director said this in an interview with the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda.

“What to do when a skating rink is rolled up for you? The theater, art turned out to face a gigantic machine, is quite a repressive property. Very fragile, defenseless, honest people now give some explanations, go to lawyers, are accused, they arrange searches, search them and their parents, someone even sits behind bars,” said Serebrennikov.

The director called the current situation "ridiculous and monstrous" and noticed that because of it there were a large number of honest and professional people who "work at all in such a" monetary "area as some are now thinking about it."

Serebrennikov emphasized that within the framework of the theater project "Platform" took place 30 original events a year. “It was not just an effective project, it was a superpoprol for which, incidentally, in 2013 the Ministry of Culture sent us a letter of thanks,” the director said. “Projects such as Platform, work first of all enthusiasts and those who love art. On Monday, the former general producer of the Seventh Studio was detained. The next day, the judge of the Presnensky district court of Moscow Tatyana Vasyuchenko arrested him until July 19 . Malobrodsky was charged under part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud on an especially large scale committed by a group of persons), which provides for up to 10 years of the colony.

According to the plot of the case, Malobrodsky, together with the ex-head of the Seventh Studio, Yuri Itin and the former chief accountant of Nina Maslyaeva, who were involved in the case earlier, in 2012 stole 2.33 million rubles allocated from the budget for the production of the play "Sleep on a Summer Night". As a result, the investigator said, the performance was not staged.

Meanwhile, Serebrennikov noted that the “Summer Night Dream” was played on the “platform” more than 15 times, then it was played in Paris in the Shayo Theater, at the Baltic House festival, it was nominated for “all kinds of theater awards”.

On May 23, searches on the theft in the “Seventh Studio” were held at various addresses , including the Gogol Center and at Serebrennikov himself. Later on the same day, the directorwas interrogated in the metropolitan head of the TFR . Serebrennikov is a witness in the case.

According to the investigation, the administrators of the Seventh Studio in 2011-2014 stole 200 million rubles from budget funds allocated "for the development and popularization of the art of the Russian Federation."

On May 24, Itin and Maslyaev were detained. Both were charged with the same part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code. On May 25, the Presnensky district court placed Itina under house arrest , although the investigator of the TFR insisted on him to send him to the pre -trial detention center. On May 27, the Presnensky district court placed Maslyaev in jail until July 19, despite the fact that she pleaded guilty and entered into a pre -trial cooperation agreement with the prosecutor.
