In Istanbul, the police fired at the participants of the gay parade with rubber bullets

According to Hürriyet Daily News, 10 participants in the action were detained.

The Street Takiklyal, along which the procession was planned, was blocked by the police in helmets and with shields. Law enforcement officers gathered more than demonstrators. The participants of the gay parade with the symbols of LGBT were concentrated by small groups on the sidewalks.

It is also reported about the brawl that happened between the participants in the action and the ultra -right, protesting against its holding.

On the eve of the Il (province) administration, Istanbul refused to coordinate the gay parade, citing the threats of the ultra-right. Officials said that the march is not safe for both its participants and other residents of the city, as well as its guests.

The organizers themselves were shallowed by the authorities. “The real reason for such a reaction to the march, which has passed peacefully for 12 years, is hatred,” they remarked. “Our security cannot be ensured by enclosing us in four walls and calling for hide. Our security will ensure the recognition of our rights in the constitution, guarantee of justice, equality and freedom.”

In the past, the Istanbul gay parade was one of the largest in the Islamic world - he gathered tens of thousands of participants. For 12 years since 2003, he passed without excesses. However, in 2015, the police dispersed the procession - also using rubber bullets and tear gas. Last year, the march was prohibited - as in the present, with reference to the threats of the ultra -right.
