The court on the suit of Rosneft arrested about 32 percent of the shares of the mobile operator MTS, which belong to AFK Sistema. The parent company MTS called it pressure on her. In total, AFK owns almost half of MTS shares. The other half is traded on the stock exchange.
In addition to MTS shares, other subsidiaries of AFK Sistema were arrested: the network of Medsi clinics and the electricity supplier BESK.
The corporation will appeal both the court ruling and the bailiff's order.
AFK Sistema
- Rosneft requires about 170 billion rubles from AFK Sistema. This is the amount the state-owned company estimates the damage to the way Sistema managed Bashneft before it came under the control of Rosneft. Sistema refuses to pay 170 billion rubles.
- Half of Bashneft belonged to Sistema until its head, Vladimir Yevtushenkov, was placed under house arrest in 2014. After that, Sistema abandoned its shares, they came under the control of the state and, as a result, Rosneft. Yevtushenkov was released.
