In addition, 20 years ago, a symbol of an attack on a user’s computer could be the cry of a fennec fennec, a turkey, or an owl.
Kaspersky Lab published a humorous video entitled “How Kaspersky came up with the sound of a pig,” which shows a casting call for choosing a sound for a virus attack. The video was prepared by the Great Advertising Group agency.
According to the plot of the video, in 1997, the head of the company, Evgeny Kaspersky, and its co-founder, Alexey De-Monderik, arrange an audition to voice a viral attack. Sheep, fennec foxes, owls and other animals attend the casting with their owners. But the pig wins the competition, whose cry became the voice of the viral attack.
In honor of the 20th anniversary, on a special website, Kaspersky Lab offers to return this sound to its antivirus. To do this, you need to disable the program's self-defense, rename the infected.wav file and copy it to a folder.
In one of the old videos, Kaspersky explained that in fact the company’s specialists “found the sound of a pig on the Internet” (fragment from 3:50).
