Halperin was sent under house arrest in the case of extremism

The judge of the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow Maxim Morozov sent an activist of the New Opposition Mark Halperin, accused of extremism for house arrest for 1 month 5 days. This was reported on her twitter by the activist of "Artillery" Natalia Chernikova.

Morozov was fully satisfied with the investigator’s request, supported by the prosecutor. The activist and his lawyer Alexei Lipzer himself opposed house arrest. Halperin called such a measure of restraint "excessive."

The activist was taken to the court immediately upon departure of a 15-day administrative arrest, which he received after the detention at the anti-corruption campaign at Tverskaya on June 12.

The case was opened last year, but it became known about him on February 7 . Then the activist was detained and interrogated as a witness.

From Halperin, as in the future from Lipzer’s lawyer, they took a non -disclosure subscription, so the details of the case were and remain unknown. According to some reports, the reason for initiating the case was an interview with the activist of the journalist "Grads-Tw" Olga Sapronova.

On June 15, Halperin was taken out of the special -reception for interrogation and there was charged under Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for extremism through the media or the Internet), which provides for up to five years of the colony.

This is the second case of Halperin. The first was opened on January 16, 2015 under article 212.1 of the Criminal Code (repeated violations at rallies). The activist took the unsuccessful subscription. However, in the future, the investigation in this case was suspended.
