Administrative proceedings in the case of the organizer of the June 12 rally in Tuapse were stopped

The Tuapse City Court terminated the administrative proceedings under Art. 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (disobedience to the lawful demand of a police officer) in relation to the activist Alexander Berezin. He reported this by calling the OVD-Info hotline.

Berezin was detained on June 25. According to him, after drinking two bottles of beer in a bar, he was heading home on foot. On the street, he was stopped by the police, who offered the activist to go for a medical examination. Berezin replied that even without any tests he could say that he had drunk two bottles of beer and was going home. Then the police offered him to get into the car and drive with them, and when he asked why this was necessary, they grabbed him by the arms and took him to the car.

Today, Berezin was first brought to court, and then taken back to the police department. One of the police officers told the activist that there would be no meeting today and that he would spend one more night at the police station. After that, Berezin went on a dry hunger strike in protest. After some time, he was again brought to court and the meeting nevertheless took place.

As a witness, the judge interrogated the PPS officer who detained Berezin. According to the policeman, Berezin looked neat and behaved correctly - that's why he was not charged with Art. 20.21 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (appearance in public places while intoxicated). When asked by the judge what then the police wanted from the activist and for what reason they detained the witness could not answer.
