
In the center of Donetsk there was an explosion in the university building. A source of Interfax agency in emergency services of a self -proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) said that people could suffer as a result of the incident.
“Previously, according to the first data from the place, there are the dead. The wounded accounts are kept, all the necessary assistance is provided on the spot,” the agency’s interlocutor emphasized. According to preliminary information, the cause of the explosion could be the operation of a home -made explosive device.
"The incident is qualified as a terrorist attack against the civilian population of the republic. According to preliminary data, the laying - a home -made explosive device could work," the interlocutor of journalists added. At the same time, information about the dead did not confirm in the People’s Police of the DPR.
Later, deputy commander of the DPR operational command, Eduard Basurin specified that the explosion occurred in the assembly hall of the university. At the same time, according to him, there was nobody there at the time of the explosion. “There was only the destruction of part of the structures of the building,” he said.
The leadership of the DPR has already qualified what happened as a sabotage directed against the educational program of the self -proclaimed republic. "We announced the readiness to accept students from Ukraine at our universities. Many people go to us to study, especially to this university. We believe that this is a sabotage directed against this program," Basurin said.
RIA Novosti clarifies that we are talking about the University of Trade located on Shevchenko Boulevard in Donetsk. The representative of the apparatus of the head of the DPR told the agency that the incident had qualified as a terrorist attack.
The head of the Ministry of Emergencies of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Alexei Kostrabitsky, told reporters that, judging by the nature of the destruction, an explosive device worked at the university. He also emphasized that there were no victims as a result of the explosion.
Later, however, the duty officer at the Ministry of State Security (MGB) of the DPR in a conversation with RBC denied information about the explosion within the building of the educational institution.
“There was no explosion - it was washing the foundation of the building after the rain, because this is a fairly old building,” he emphasized. Another interlocutor of the publication in the MGB DPR also stated that "there was no explosion - there was heavy rain, the foundation washed, and as a result of the support they could not stand it."
