Putin extended antisanctions for a year

Russian President Vladimir Putin extended the effect of antisanctions for the year, until December 31, 2018. The corresponding decree is published on the official portal of legal information.

The fact that the government will invite Putin to extend economic restrictions, including the grocery embargo, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev reported on June 29.

A day earlier, the European Union extended the effect of economic sanctions against Russia until January 31, 2018. The EU restrictive measures, as well as the United States, were established in 2014 after Crimea entered Russia.

In November 2016, Putin promised “as long as possible” not to cancel counter -sanctions. According to him, they are aimed at protecting the domestic market.
