The Central Television of the DPRK announced the first successful test launch of the intercontinental ballistic missile, reports Reuters. Pyongyang claims that such a rocket can hit the targets "anywhere in the world" rocket flight height was 2802 km
The launch was made at about 09:40 local time (03:40 Moscow time) from the Banghyon air base near the border with China, the YouNhap agency reports . According to the Pacific command of the United States, in 37 minutes the rocket flew about 930 km and fell into the sea in the exclusive economic zone of Japan.
At the same time, the American military considered that a medium -range missile was launched. "Norad (command of the Aerospace Defense of North America. - Ed.) It came to the conclusion that the rocket launched by North Korea was not a threat to North America," the message says.
US President Donald Trump sharply reacted to a message about launch. “North Korea launched another missile. Really this guy (Trump has in mind the leader of the DPRK Kim Jong -un. - Ed.) There is nothing to do in this life? I can’t believe that South Korea and Japan will continue to demolish this. I hope that China will take strict actions and put an end to such nonsense once and for all,” Trump wrote on Twitter.
The Government of Japan has announced the DPRK protest in connection with the next launch of the ballistic missile, said the Secretary General of the Japanese Cabinet of Ministers Yoshihide Suga. “We believe that such actions of North Korea are inadmissible, resolutely condemn them and declare a firm protest,” he said at a briefing in Tokyo.
On June 3, the UN Security Council unanimously finished the US DPRK resolution proposed by the United States. It provides for the expansion of sanctions against North Korea . The resolution "expresses concern about the fact that receipts from the prohibited sale of weapons of the Korean People's Democratic Republic are used to create nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles." The UN Security Council called the DPRK to the immediate cessation of prohibited missile and nuclear activities. The desire for political and diplomatic settlement of tension on the Korean peninsula is also confirmed.
The UN sanctions list additionally includes 14 individuals, mainly civil servants and representatives of the DPRK trading companies. Four North Korean organizations also fell under sanctions.
“The international community is united to take measures, and the pressure will not stop until North Korea fully fulfills the resolution of the Security Council,” said the US Permanent Representative to the UN at Nikki Haley. “Launches of missiles are threat to the international world and security, and the international community must respond to threat.”
The Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia at the UN Vladimir Safronkov opposed the increase in military activity in the region. “If we speak the language of ultimatums with each other, we will not budge a dead point,” Safronkov said at a meeting. “The confrontation logic is fraught with catastrophic consequences for both the Korean Peninsula and the region as a whole. It is absolutely obvious to us that the choice should be made in favor of the maximum involvement of diplomatic tools.”
In 2006, the UN Security Council first imposed sanctions against the DPRK in connection with the conduct of nuclear and missile tests in the country. Subsequently, sanctions have repeatedly tightened. The UN Security Council adopted the previous resolution on North Korea in November last year .
