The lawyer managed to meet with the prisoner beaten in the Yaroslavl colony

“Public Verdict” lawyer Irina Biryukova met with Evgeniy Makarov, who was beaten in penal colony No. 1 in the Yaroslavl region. This was reported on the “Public Verdict” Facebook page.

In April, Makarov, the Bolotnaya case defendant Ivan Nepomnyashchikh and another prisoner Ruslan Vakhapov stated that they were beaten by the special forces of the Federal Penitentiary Service. On June 29, Makarov was beaten again. According to Biryukova, they beat him hard, and Makarov had difficulty moving:

Severe cuts on the hands from handcuffs, numerous abrasions on the legs, swollen and bruised legs from the knees to the heels, damaged feet, a serious wound on one of the legs.

For some reason, the colony administration refused to provide premises for meetings between lawyers and Biryukova’s clients. That's why she talked to Makarov in the short-term visiting room. At the same time, employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service were present, whom Makarov accused of beating. Now he is in a punishment cell, the doctors allowed him to lie on the bunk during the day.
