The meeting participants (except Fursenko) were sitting alphabetically. The meeting lasted almost three hours. During it, various issues were discussed, but above all, amendments to the Law on RAS. All its participants spoke, including candidates for the head of the Russian Academy of Sciences. They say that Putin listened carefully to everyone and wrote down something. Participants did not notice any obvious preference or support to one of the candidates. There is a hope that the amendment of “no more than three candidates” will replace the norm “at least two”. Meanwhile, the State Duma adopted a bill in the first reading with an amendment, which does not suit the Academy of Sciences.
Two months before the election, the Academy has not yet showed obvious preferences regarding the future head of the Russian Academy of Sciences. So, Vladislav Panchenko supported the department of info- and nano-technologies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the department of historical and philological sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Alexandra Sergeyev - a department of physical sciences and a department of biological sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a department of energy, mechanical engineering, mechanics and management processes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as well as the Ural branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Academician Evgenia Kablo - a department of chemistry and sciences of the materials of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Valeria Chereshneva - a separation of the physiological sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Gennady Krasnikova - Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Alexandra Sergeyev - a department of physical sciences, a department of biological sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a department of energy, mechanical engineering, mechanics and management processes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as well as the Ural branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Alexey Khokhlov noted that “he is fundamentally not looking for support for the departments and the reasons are set out here” [3]. At the same time, he continues to collect individual signatures of members of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Robert Nigmatulin collects signatures.
On June 27, a meeting of the Bureau of the Department of Mathematical Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences was held, and it was decided not to support any of the candidates. I.O. President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valery Kozlov, despite the persuasion, refused to nominate his candidacy.
