The Petersburg writer Daniil Granin died
On the night of July 5, writer Daniil Granin died in St. Petersburg at the age of 98, Interfax reports.
According to the agency’s source, over the past few days, Granin was in intensive care, shortly before his death he was connected to the apparatus of artificial ventilation of the lungs.
Daniil Granin was born in 1919. He is an honorary resident of St. Petersburg, a member of the World Club of Petersburgers, as well as the laureate of the USSR State Prize, the State Prize of Russia and the President of the Russian Federation in the field of literature and art. In addition, he was awarded the Prize of the St. Petersburg Government in the field of literature and art.
He is known thanks to the novels “Zubble”, “Seekers”, as well as the stories “Garden of Stones”, “Rain in a foreign city”. For the novel "My Lieutenant" Granin received the National Literary Prize "Big Book" in 2012. In collaboration with Ales Adamovich Granin wrote to the "Blockade Book".
