Senator Viktor Ozerov will leave the post of Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security

Senator Viktor Ozerov wrote a letter of resignation from the post of chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security of his own free will, as he wants to change the situation and the rhythm of life, RIA Novosti reports .

“It is necessary to rotate posts in the Federation Council, the time has come in the committee on defense and security,” Ozerov told the agency.

RIA Novosti notes that, most likely, the application will be considered at a meeting of the Federation Council on July 12.

“I remain in the Federation Council and hope to still be of benefit to both the region and the chamber,” the senator said.

The senator's term expires in September 2019. He has been working in the upper chamber for more than 20 years. The senator was one of the authors of the anti-terrorist Yarovaya Law.
