The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow sent under house arrest for two months the leader of the New Opposition, one of the organizers of the Russian marches Yuri Gorsky. This is reported by Interfax.

Gorsky was charged under Part 1 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for extremism), the sanction of which is up to four years of the colony. The investigator motivated the need for house arrest by the fact that Gorsky "is accused of committing a crime against the foundations of the constitutional system and the foundations of statehood." According to the investigator, the defendant has the opportunity to leave the territory of Russia and repeatedly violated the law, and was also brought to administrative responsibility.

Gorsky himself and his lawyer Igor Elifkhanov objected to house arrest. "I think the subscription about the no to leave is a sufficient measure for me," the accused said.

On Tuesday, Gorsky was detained at the Moscow City Court building , where an appeal was appointed to be sentenced to the leader of the nationalist party to Dmitry Demushkin (as a result, the hearing was postponed on July 17). Gorsky was taken for interrogation to the FSB, where he was charged. On Wednesday, it became known that Gorsky was detained 48 hours before the court on the measure of suppression.

The reason for the initiation of the case was the slogan of “barricades, tires, fire!”, Which Gorsky chanted a megaphone at the agreed “Russian May Day” this year. The activist was the organizer of the procession.

At the end of the "Russian Primer" Gorsky was detained and delivered to OP "Schukino". The protocols were fabricated to it under part 1 of Article 19.3 and part 5 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of the procedure for holding a public event). Later, the protocol under article 20.2 was rewritten - the case was re -qualified from part 5 to part 8 (repeated violation), which, unlike part 5, as one of the sanctions provides for administrative arrest.

Police officers explained the charge under Article 20.2 of the Code by the fact that Gorsky agreed with the Moscow Mayoria, but not a rally. Meanwhile, the column of demonstrators during the procession made stops. These stops security officials and declared a rally.

On the night of May 3, the judge of the Khoroshevsky District Court of Moscow Julia Dvorzhanskaya fined the opposition for 1000 rubles under Article 19.3 and gave him three days of arrest under Article 20.2. In protest, the oppositionist held a dry hunger strike before the expiration of the arrest.
