Throughout July, interesting TV shows will be published on it: about the cocaine boom in the California of the 1980s, vampires in Texas, Shakespeare's youth, forty-year-old friendship and much more. Medusa chose 12 new shows, which should spend time even in the midst of summer.

"Snowfall" (Snowfall)

A series without stars, but about a whole era-an epidemic of drugs in Los Angeles of the 1980s. When in the countries of the Caribbean, Cocaine overproduction began, American dealers decided to change the market strategy. So from the drug for the chosen ones, white powder turned into a cheap Crak for everyone. And Los Angeles plunged into a feast during the plague, at the end of which not only the relations between the police and ethnic gangs changed forever, but a new musical and cinematic culture appeared. The series talks about how this happened - on the example of a young dealer, CIA agent, daughter of a drug lord and a Mexican wrestler, nicknamed El City.

The main reason to believe in the show is the reputation of its creator John Singleton. The singer of the Los Angeles ghetto, he devoted his whole career to the study of racial conflicts in California. The debut film “Guys in the neighborhood” made it the youngest director (and the first African American) ever nominated for Oscar. Then there were copyright “poetic Justice” (with Tupak Shakur and Janet Jackson), “Higher Education” (with Ice Kyube) and “Four Brothers” (with Mark Walberg). Now television also turned to the ideas of Singleton. I wonder how he will dispose of a high tribune.

"Castlevania" (Castlevania)

Canadian-American animation based on the old Japanese video game. The main villain of the upcoming cartoon (and the already promised second season) is Dracula. The main character is the last hunter for vampires from the Belmont clan. There is almost no doubt that Netflix “castleli” will be for lovers of video games of the 1980s, the same as the series “Very Strange Things” turned out to be fans of pop culture of that time. Drawn, in any case, beautifully.

"On wheels" (Tour de Pharmacy)

The continuation of the rather funny, in places wild and very strange mocking the comedy “7 days in hell”, in which Andy Sambberg (successor to Adam Sandler in Hollywood) and Kit Harrington (John Snow from the Game of Thrones) depicted rival tennis players. This time, the world of cycles and scandals with doping are the subject of satire, and together with Samberg Mike Tyson, Orlando Bloom, Jay Abrams and even cycling Lance Armstrong appear in the frame. And yes, this is not a series, but a television movie. So the narrative promises to be extremely collected, and the concentration of jokes is high.

"Will" (Will)

Although everyone who watched the film “Survival only lovers” knows that vampires wrote for Shakespeare, the heritage of the main English playwright continues to worry Hollywood. The series "Will", judging by the available materials, will be the adventure of hipsters at the court of King Jacob I. William Shakespeare, all his muses, rivals and friends here look like they escaped from the pages of a glossy magazine. And the solemn synopsis promises that the heroes will devote their life and creativity to the struggle against dictatorship. All this, by artificiality of passions, resembles a recent Pepsi advertising video with Kendall Jenner , but we will try not to judge the series ahead of time. In the end, something can turn out to be just as unbridled, sexy and witty as “Da Vinci Demons” on the Star channel.

The Bold Type (The Bold Type)

Another attempt to catch up irrevocably, it seems, the departed era of glamor. The heroines of the series are three girls working in a glossy magazine. The scene is autumn New York. The plot is based on the real memoirs of the former editor -in -chief of the American Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan Joanna Cowls, which inspires, albeit restrained, but still optimism.

This time, the series tells about the four suddenly rich British programmers, so that the audience will be able to rest a little from neurotics from California.

The writer Charlene Harris, who came up with the trilogy of Midnite, is also the author of the cycle of novels about Syuki Stakhaus, a girl around whom the HBO series “Real Blood” grew. However, he was primarily loved for radicalism, which NBC would never allow.

The script is free, but still retelling of the unfinished “last magnate” Fitzgerald - the very one that has already been shot by the film by Eliya Kazan with Robert de Niro and Jack Nicholson. But this shift is more than worthy. The action, as in the novel, takes place in Hollywood of the 1930s. The powerful film producer is played by Kelsi Grammer, whose "boss" we have been missing for five years. His deceptively quiet daughter is Lily Collins from the recent drama about the girl and the pig "October". And another producer, an opponent and a lover, is portrayed by actor Matt Bomer.

The repertoire of the Amazon online channel already has a worthy series about Fitzgerald itself “Z: The Beginning of everything”, so in the “Last Magnat” should be believed.
