
Today, July 9, in Moscow, at the age of 87, the artist, founder of the Russian Academy of Painting, sculpture and architecture, Ilya Glazunov, died.

Ilya Sergeyevich Glazunov was born in 1930 in Leningrad, survived the blockade in which his family died. In 1957 he graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin, in the same year, the first exhibition of Ilya Glazunov was held in the Central House of Arts in Moscow.
The author of more than three thousand works, including illustrations for the works of Russian writers, cycles dedicated to Russian history and the life of a modern city, portraits of Soviet and foreign political and public figures, writers and artists, monumental works, such as the “contribution of the peoples of the Soviet Union to world culture and civilization” (1980), “Eternal Russia” (1988), “Great Experiment” (1990).
Ilya Glazunov also created a design for several opera performances, participated in the restoration and reconstruction of the buildings of the Moscow Kremlin, including the Great Kremlin Palace.
Since 1978 he taught at the Moscow Art Institute named after V.I. Surikova, in 1981, organized and headed the All-Union Museum of Decorative and Applied and Folk Art in Moscow, in 1987 he founded the Russian Academy of painting, sculpture and architecture and became its rector.
PS The funeral service of Ilya Glazunov will be held on July 11 in the Sretensky Monastery in Moscow, the funeral will take place on the same day at the Novodevichy cemetery, TASS reports.
