Trump spoke about the pressure on Putin when discussing Russian interference in the American elections

US President Donald Trump said that during negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Hamburg, he "pressed twice" on him when discussing alleged Russian interference in the American elections. He announced this on Twitter.

“I put pressure on President Putin twice when we talked about Russian interference in our elections. He flatly denied this. I have already expressed my opinion…,” Trump wrote.

The US President noted that during the talks they discussed the ceasefire in Syria, thanks to which people's lives will be saved.

“The time has come to move towards constructive cooperation with Russia!” he added.

In addition, Donald Trump tweeted that the issue of lifting sanctions was not discussed at the meeting of leaders. According to him, the restrictions will not be lifted until the problem of Syria and Ukraine is resolved.

Earlier, on July 7, as part of the G20 summit, the first meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump took place. It lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Putin said that he had discussed with Trump the situation in Ukraine and Syria, the fight against terrorism and cybersecurity. The parties agreed on a truce in Syria. A ceasefire is scheduled for July 9th.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson later said that there was a "very clean and positive chemistry" between the presidents. According to him, the leaders quickly found a common language and discussed important issues. Trump himself called the meeting "amazing."
