The final of the “Page 17” reading aloud championship for high school students will take place on July 15 on the stage of the Educational Theater of the Moscow Art Theater School. The organizers of the event informed Gorky about this.
Schoolchildren from 14 to 17 years old will read passages seen for the first time, without preparation. “The works are different: domestic and foreign classics and modern literature, works of fiction and non-fiction. The technique and artistry of the reading is assessed by the jury,” the press release says.
High school students from Moscow, Askiz (Republic of Khakassia), Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Elektrostal, Krasnodar and Nizhny Novgorod will take part in the championship. The winner will receive 300 thousand rubles and the opportunity to perform at the city festival “Unprincipled Readings” in the Hermitage Garden along with TV presenter Nikolai Drozdov, actors Sergei Garmash, Katerina Shpitsa and Dmitry Chebotarev. The festival team will evaluate the performances: writers Alexander Snegirev, Alexander Tsypkin and editor-in-chief of Maxim magazine Alexander Malenkov.
The championship is organized by the Interregional Reading Federation Association. The competition is taking place for the third time. This year it is dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of Samuel Marshak.
