US Secretary of Defense James Mattis gave an interview to a high school student, who saw the Pentagon’s personal phone number of the head of the Pentagon in the school newspaper.
In May, 16-year-old Teddy Fisher sent a message on this number with a request for an interview.
Mattis called him back, and they talked for 45 minutes. In June, Fisher posted an interview on the Internet.
On July 10, the New York Post wrote about this story.
Talking with the young man, Mattis said that it was the world leadership of the United States that ensured stability in the world after the Second World War-primarily through the Marshall Plan, the UN, the Bretton Wood Conference (according to the post-war settlement of world finances), the International Monetary Fund and NATO.
Answering the question about the ways to combat terrorist ideology, the minister proposed to launch a program of mass training in the United States of foreign high school students.
Observers note that these words of Mattis are contrary to the course of the administration of Donald Trump to restrict immigration. Only the other day, the US authorities refused entry visas by six Afghan students who wanted to take part in the robotics competition.
