Suspicious Bradbury

The last weeks have been “yielding” on news related to the struggle of the authorities against books - to take at least the withdrawal of literature from libraries purchased at the expense of the Soros Foundation (back in those days when the activities of the Fund was not prohibited in Russia). From Sunday, another story is walking on the Internet: about how the customs officers detained the Russian Russian writer Ray Bradbury at the airport of Irkutsk.

The detainee himself, who returned from vacation in China, the industrial climber Anton Kurochkin told about what happened on the incident.

Oddly enough, we are not talking about the famous Bradbury’s novel “451 according to Fahrenheit”, which describes a social structure that punishes even for storing books. According to Kurochkin, he is just driving in the baggage of the Bradbury Autobiographical Tale "Zen in the art of writing books", which saw the light in the distant 1973. In the comments on the record, Kurochkin suggested that the customs officers seemed suspicious to the word "Zen" in the name of the book and posted a copy of the application to the act of customs inspection. The photo shows that Bradbury’s book, like evidence at the crime scene, was carefully measured by a ruler, weighed and photographed from all sides.

According to another version expressed by one of the commentators, Customs Suspicions could cause Bradbury Epigraph to his book, brought out by publishers on her cover:

“Every morning I jump out of bed and step on a mine. This mine is myself. After the explosion, I collect myself in pieces all day. Now your turn. Get up!”

According to Kurochkin, in addition to Bradbury, he had a whole bag of books in Chinese with him, but they did not cause any interest in customs officers. Because of the book, Bradbury was asked to write an explanatory, Rosbalt reports with reference to Kurochkin’s interview with Omsk “12th channel”: “An expert arrived, who assured that there was nothing banned in this book, which was signed by his own. The passport was returned, the book was also.”

A little later, Anton Kurochkin wrote that he was not holding evil for customs officers:

However, this incident did not pass by the leadership of the Irkutsk customs. Her representatives accused Kurochkin of lies, saying that he was not at the airport that day at all. Along with this, representatives of the department admitted that they delayed a certain woman on July 9, in the baggage of whom "a book was discovered, the cover of which could not be discerned at the X -ray."
