In Yekaterinburg, a defrauded shareholder was convicted of picketing; the case of another was returned to the police

On July 10, the Kirovsky District Court of Yekaterinburg considered the administrative cases of two defrauded shareholders who held single pickets in the city. RIA Novy Den reports this.

On July 9, two women went to the governor’s office for single pickets demanding the completion of their apartments. They held single pickets nearby. The defrauded shareholders decided to hold their shares on the eve of President Putin’s arrival in Yekaterinburg.

As one of the shareholders says, after she unfolded the poster, she was surrounded by police officers, who had previously asked another shareholder of the Svetly residential complex from Aramili to come closer with the poster. The woman, sensing something was wrong, rolled up her poster, but the police and employees of the Ministry of Public Security asked her to take it out to take a photo. As soon as she did this, an administrative protocol was left in relation to both shareholders under Part 5 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of the procedure for holding a public event by a participant in a public event)

As a result, due to procedural errors, the report of one participant was returned to the police, while the other was sentenced to 20 hours of compulsory labor.

upd: Later, the Rosbalt agency reported that compulsory work was also assigned to another participant in a series of single pickets of shareholders; he received 40 hours of work.

The situation was commented on by the media relations department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Yekaterinburg: “On July 9, in the area of ​​the Kosmos control center, police officers detained citizens for violating the established procedure for holding mass events. The detainees were taken to the duty station, where protocols were drawn up against them regarding an administrative offense under Part 5 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (“Violation of the established procedure for organizing or holding a meeting, rally, demonstration, procession or picketing”). In this case, citizens located in different locations used posters with the same theme. Such actions were regarded as a single event not agreed upon with the administration. Photography was carried out by police officers only to record the contents of the posters.”

It is noteworthy that the trial in the Kirovsky District Court was delayed for about six hours. Before this, lawyers of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation agreed to defend women who had no idea about the peculiarities of administrative law, who considered that waiting several hours was too long, and left their trustees alone at about seven o’clock in the evening. The women were lucky that at that time the head of the human rights organization “Legal Basis” Dmitry Rozhin was working in court, who agreed to act as a defender in court - otherwise they would have been left without legal protection.
