The Committee on Legality, Law Enforcement and Security of St. Petersburg refused to allow the activists of the Vesna movement to hold a rally for free Internet on the Field of Mars on July 16, since another cultural event would allegedly be held there. This was announced to OVD-Info by the federal traffic coordinator Bogdan Litvin.
The event was moved to Bolshaya Morskaya Street. Activists are going to oppose privacy restrictions and criminal prosecution for expressing personal opinions on the Internet. The organizers of the event are asking to refrain from participating in the anti-corruption rally on June 12, as “at the meeting, arrests by the police are possible.”
