Member of the House of Representatives of the US Congress Democrat from California Brad Sherman made a proposal on the impeachment of President Trump on Wednesday to Congress.
Sherman explains his demand by the fact that Trump made the grave violation of the law, namely, he prevented the administration of justice, having resigned the director of the FBI Komi, who oversaw the investigation of the “Russian trace” in last year’s election campaign.
The congressman refers to the words of the dismissed director of the FBI, who said that the president had sought from him to terminate the investigation of the contacts of his former national security assistant Michael Flynn with Russian representatives.
This is the first formal legislative initiative with a request for early termination of Trump's powers. At the moment, only two congressmen support it. The leadership of the Democrats is not confident in the timeliness of such a step, since most members of the lower house should vote for the proposal of impeachment, and the Republicans today have an advantage of 46 votes. As an alternative, the opposition invites Congress to establish an independent commission and instruct it to find out if the conspiracy between the team of Trump and the Kremlin took place during the presidential race.
The press secretary of the White House Sarah Khakabi-Sanders described the proposal of the California democrat as "uniform stupidity and politicism in the worst form."
