Distribution centers will strengthen X5's logistics infrastructure

X5 RetailGroup, one of the leading multi-format retail companies in Russia, announced the opening of two distribution centers (DCs) in Yekaterinburg.

Modern logistics complexes Yekaterinburg and Kosulino will improve the efficiency of supply chains for goods of X5 retail chains, increase the turnover of local suppliers, as well as create the best price offers for residents of the Urals, Volga and Siberian federal districts.

Logistic complex "Yekaterinburg" with an area of ​​more than 35,500 sq. m will ensure the supply of goods to 1,260 Pyaterochka stores located in the Sverdlovsk, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Kemerovo regions, the Khanty-Mansiysk and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Districts, as well as the Perm Territory. There are currently 115 Pyaterochkas operating in Siberia.

Another logistics complex, Kosulino, became the first distribution center for the Perekrestok and Karusel retail chains in the Urals.
New logistics complexes will help maintain the availability and freshness of goods in the context of the active development of X5 retail chains, reduce transportation costs, and also provide new opportunities for local producers. Distribution centers "Ekaterinburg" and "Kosulino" will expand the sales volume, as well as the geography of deliveries of local manufacturers' products to other regions. Thus, upon reaching full capacity, the Ekaterinburg DC will process and place products from more than 480 suppliers.

The Ekaterinburg DC is designed to accommodate all categories of goods and consists of 6 zones, each of which maintains the temperature regime necessary for storing products.

The distribution center in Yekaterinburg is one of the most high-tech in Russia. The center will use such innovative solutions as dynamic slotting (a mathematical algorithm that reduces the picker's mileage based on data on previous orders), voice picking (goods are collected using a voice terminal), EDI systems that allow you to control the constant availability of goods on the shelf and plan its sales, as well as RFID-marking of goods, providing online control over its movement.

All these solutions, as well as systems for biometric identification of employees, can double labor productivity compared to similar centers.
