The Odessa film festival opens

Today, July 14, by showing the film Karin Tardier “To be sure” (ôTez-homoi d'An doute, France-Beligia), the VIII Odessa International Film Festival opens.

The international competition program of the festival of 12 films, including the picture of the Serbian director Boyan Vuletich “Requi for Mrs. Gospođu J. , Serbia-Bolgaria-Macedonia-Russia), in the production of which the company of producer Alexander Rodnyansky participated on the Russian side.

The films of the international competition will be evaluated by the jury, led by director Christian Petzold (Germany), which also included actresses Rimma Zyubin (Ukraine) and Siber Kekilly (Germany), director Tudor Jurudju (Romania) and film -composer Yevgeny Galperin (Russia).

Six full -length and 17 short films participate in national competitive programs, another 8 paintings - in the competition of European documentaries. The program of special shows includes the film “Student” by Kirill Serebrennikov, in the program “Festival of Festivals” - “Testamus” Kantemir Balagova and “Arrhythmia” Boris Khlebnikov.

Also in the schedule of the festival are retrospectives, gala premiers, shows of TV shows, children's program, creative meetings and master classes, in which, in particular, Agnieshka Holland, Sergey Loznitsa, Christian Petzold and Evgeny Galperin will take part.

By tradition, in the days of the Odessa Film Festival, films are shown on the Symphony Orchestra on the Potemkin staircase. This year, the organizers chose Lady Happiness for these shows ( Au Bonheur des Dames , France, 1930) Julien Duvivier and the unprecedented campaign (USSR, 1931) Misail Kaufman.

VIII Odessa International Film Festival will last until July 22. At the closure, the political comedy Sally Potter “Party” ( The Party , Great Britain) will be presented.
