
The Security Service of Ukraine announced the detention of an agent of Russian special services in Kyiv, who intended to receive secret documents and recruit an employee of the country's Ministry of Defense. This was reported on the website of the special services.
According to the plot of the case, the detainee, a native of Donetsk, who was in Kyiv from time to time, established secret contact with the former military personnel of the Ukrainian army. According to the special services, the man wanted to get secret materials from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and, as well as data about employees of the Ukrainian military department having access to GOSTIN.
The SBU claims that the detainee was interested in information about the personnel, dislocation, ensuring, weapons and movements of the formations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the National Guard. In addition, the suspect was interested in the supply of weapons to Ukraine NATO member countries, conducting Ukrainian-American military teachings "Sea Breeze 2017" and data on American instructors who trained the Ukrainian military.
The special service does not disclose the name of the detainee and other information about him.
It was reported that the man was announced by suspicion under Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Gosizman). The announcement of suspicion in the Ukrainian Criminal Procedure Code corresponds to the charges of Russian. The defendant of the case threatens from twelve to fifteen years in prison. The SBU will petition in court about the arrest of the detainee.
