Bran Stark becomes the main character of the Game of Thrones. Interview with Isaac Hempsted-Right, who played him in the series

Why is Bran so important?

The Game of Thrones has always been a series with a strikingly complex structure. The incredible skill of the hero was revealed in the scene with the head. When white walkers attacked the shelter of the heroes, the boy wanted to survive so much that he managed to return many years ago and shouted to the head (then still a healthy guy named Wilis): “Cut the move!” ("Hold the Door!" - in the original version). He was so impressed that he went crazy and repeated the word “Hodor” all his life. However, at the decisive moment-when the white walkers pursued Bran-he nevertheless shut the door.

It turned out a temporary loop, which has been delayed more than once in science fiction works. If Wilis had not lost his mind, he would not be with Bran in this hut. But if Wilis had not been to Bran in this hut, then he would not have gone crazy.

It is not easy for fans of the series and books to live with this fact, but the trouble is that the young Stark has other superpower. He, for example, can see the world - it is not only the present, but also the past - instilling in Cardrevo. And although his mentor, a three -eyed raven, warns that to see does not mean to intervene, the bran is clearly stronger than everyone thinks. When in the book, during the wedding of Ramsi Bolton and the False Arya in the Mother of God, the stink passes past Chardrev, he hears his real name: “Theon”. Fans believe that in this way Bran Stark appeals to him - and it is from this scene that the spiritual resurrection of Theon inside the stinking begins.

These two events - one book, another serial - is enough to build even more bold theories. For example, that the Mad King heard a whisper (after Jamie Lannister killed him, in general, the whole fuss began) was actually brought to the handle of Brana. And that such a fate may be waiting for the queen Cersei. From the prophecy, we know that Valonkar, that is, the "younger brother" will destroy it. Bran Stark is a good candidate. By the way, at the very beginning of the “Song of Ice and Flame”, the little Bran lies in Winterfell and listens to the tales of the old Nen, and the raven flies to the window of his chambers. This raven may be Bran-Az-Black himself, collecting information about white walkers. After all, the old Nan could know about how to destroy the king of the night.

But some fans think even more largely - and recall that the wall was erected by the Bran the builder at one time. If Stark was able to return to the past and program the head, then why not return even further to antiquity and build a wall?

Bran, by the way, has a special relationship with the king of the night: during the visions of Stark, the king is the only one who notices the boy. The mark that the king left on the hand of Bran destroyed the spells that protected the refuge of the three -eyed raven. If these spells of the same nature as the magic of the wall, then the return of Bran to the seven kingdoms will open the gate for the king.

And Bran is very necessary to return home: so far he is the only one who knows that John Snow is the son of Prince Targaryen and Lady Stark. That is, the same son of ice and flame on whom all these years hinted by the name of the book cycle - Son (G) of Ice and Fire. True, there is an elegant option that the abuse will cross the wall through the air, because he was interpreted that he "will never be able to walk, but he will fly." For example, on one of the dragons of Daenerys.

On the eve of the seventh season, it seems that the king of the night will benefit from any scenario. If the bran passes under the wall, it will follow, and if John Snow goes to wild lands to save his brother, then the king will be able to attack him. And if it comes to dragons, then he has a legend in stock about the ice dragon. Why don't she be true? And, by the way, about whom are these lines in the trailer (“The lone wolf dies, but the flock lives”) - about John, about Ned or about Robba?

But no matter what happens to Bran, another thing is important - “Game of Thrones”, who has denied the foundations of fantasy for many years, returns to the rule of John R. Tolkin and Klava Steaplza Lewis - and trusts the fate of the world to a little person who has never been looking for a feat. But he will be forced to commit him - for the sake of everyone.

"Bran looks like Dr. Manhattan"

- What will happen to Bran at the beginning of this season?

- In the first series, we will see that Bran will be in a slightly difficult position. He lost his chant, which over the past six seasons was almost his feet. He was left without his fierce, and they had a very deep connection - one might say that he was part of Bran, as well as a very valuable defender. Bengen Stark, who was in their last meeting ( when the whirlwinds were catching up with Bran and the world - approx. Medusa ) appeared and saved the situation, also left Bran. So now at the foot of the wall - only he and the world.

“Is he still a bran?”

- Not really. In addition to everything, a huge responsibility for the three -eyed raven fell on his shoulders. He is no longer Bran Stark. He remembers that it is Brana Stark, but at the same time he remembers everything that has ever happened in the universe. He knows everything about John Snow, about the origin of white walkers - and this knowledge can be useful to win over them. All this means that the aboma has become a very, very valuable asset for Westeros. He needs to make this information in time to come to the right people. Therefore, at the beginning of the seventh season, Bran's task is to be in the right place and save everyone.

“He is one of the few who knows that the enemy in the Great War is ...

-Yes, Bran really [knows] more than anyone else, so now he is a sworn enemy of the King of the Night. The three -eyed raven and the king of the night are the worst enemies. So, I think, Bran is better than others about the fear and horror that everyone should experience because of the threat hanging over them.

- What is it like to play a character who was a boy at the beginning, and now is hardly a person?

- It was not easy to understand how to play him. It seemed to us that he should be in a sense soulless, unemotional, with a barely noticeable mysterious aura, but at the same time-not boring and not monotonous. So it was necessary to try to catch the moment when knowledge about everything in the world began to awaken inside him. After all, the consequences of how this ability affects the human mind is huge.

David and Dan ( David Benioff and D. B. Wayss, the scriptwriters of the series - approx. Medusa ) told me to read the comic book “Keepers”: [Bran] looks like Dr. Manhattan from this comic book. When I play Stark - I am not trying to focus on a specific scene: on the contrary, at that moment I listen to what the rest of the characters say, I think about a million of other things that occurred in previous scenes, I remember one moment from the second season and so on. This is exactly what is happening in the head of Bran. He [in his head] a whirlwind of information that twists all times: "Oh, it happened, and this happened, and then."
