George Romero died

In the 78th year of his life, the director and screenwriter George Romero died, writes The Los Angeles Times. According to the publication, Romero was ill with lung cancer.

The director's family said that he died surrounded by loved ones. Before his death, Romero listened to music from the film “Quiet Man” of 1952.

The first picture according to the script Romero was released in 1968 - subsequently the horror "Night of the living dead" became cult. In total, Romero created more than two dozen scenarios for horror films, for which he was called the "father of all zombies." On their basis, several novels and comics were written, including the “Dawn of the Dead”, “The Night of the Living Dead” and the “Empire of the Dead”.
