The Ministry of Justice included extremist materials, the novel of the Jewish writer of the 19th century Marcus Leman "forcibly baptized", as well as an article by the modern Israeli philologist Zoya Kopelman "The Holiness of the land of Israel." The texts are included in the list of July 14 under the numbers, respectively, 4176 and 4177.
The basis was the decision made on March 22 by the judge of the Central District Court of Sochi Yuri Kurin on the claim of the district prosecutor Alexei Kozachek. As the prosecutor’s appeal, the forensic laboratory of the regional UFSB saw in Leman’s novel “Information aimed at arousing hatred of Christianity (in particular, to Catholicism), at the initiation of religious hatred and enmity in relation to Christians, as well as the propaganda of the superiority and exclusivity of Judaism over Christianity”, and in the article Copelman, “information, information. aimed at initiating hatred and enmity in relation to the peoples of non -Jewish nationality, as well as the propaganda of the exclusivity and superiority of the Jewish people over the rest of the peoples. "
The orthodox rabbi Marcus (Meir) Leman (1831-1890), who lived in Germany, is the author of many novels about the life of Jews. Some of his books are translated into Russian. The translation of "forcibly baptized" was published in the 2001 Moscow publishing house "Isographer". The article Kopelman "The Holiness of the land of Israel" appeared in the same 2001 in the 35th issue of the Moscow magazine "Fathers and Children"; It is also available on the Internet. This article is an interpretation of Jewish religious texts and statements of Jewish clergy about the territory of Israel and its role in the history of Jews.
As follows from the text of the court decision, Leman’s novel and the number of “Fathers and Children” were seized by operatives of the Sochi department of the FSB during a search in a certain building. The address of the premises from the published text is removed. It can be assumed that the search was carried out at the main rabbi of Sochi Ari Edelkopf , who at the beginning of this year was illegally expelled from Russia with his family.
In the card’s card on the court’s website, only the regional head of the Ministry of Justice and the Office of Roskomnadzor in the Southern Federal District - representatives of the Jewish community were not involved in the consideration of the case, are not involved. This can be explained by the fact that the appeal against the decision was not filed.
The head of the Department of Public Relations of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia, Borukh Gorin, sharply criticized the inclusion of Leman’s book (but not articles by Kopelman) in the list of extremist materials on his FB page. “This is an absolute mockery of the whole law on extremism. To name a book that has been withstanding dozens of reprints even in Germany of the 19th century, a book on discrimination on the religious principle of Jews in medieval Europe of extremist is to ridicule the very idea of“ the fight against extremism, ”Gorin wrote.
