The Nikulinsky District Court of Moscow ruled to recover more than two million rubles from Alexei Navalny and Pyotr Ofitserov, as well as the former director of Kirovles, Vyacheslav Opalev, who was accused in the same case as them and testified against them, at the suit of the enterprise. It is reported by Interfax.
The total amount to be paid to the defendants is two million 164 thousand rubles. Kirovles demanded to recover 16 million 165 thousand 826 rubles 65 kopecks as compensation for material damage.
During the meeting, the court rejected a number of motions from lawyer Vadim Kobzev, who represents the interests of Navalny, the agency reports. The lawyer asked to transfer the case to the Troitsky District Court of Moscow at the place of residence of Ofitserov, to dismiss the case, to involve Vyatskaya Lesnaya Kompaniya LLC as a third party, to postpone the hearing, to summon Opalev to court. The court denied everything.
On February 8, the Leninsky District Court of Kirov sentenced Navalny and Ofitserov to suspended sentences of five years and four years, respectively. They were accused of fraud: according to the investigation, they bought products from Kirovles at reduced prices, and then sold them at market prices. This was already the second conviction in the Kirovles case, since the first, similar one, was canceled after the decision of the European Court of Human Rights that Navalny and Ofitserov were convicted for acts that cannot be distinguished from ordinary business activities.
Opalev, who admitted his guilt and entered into an agreement with the investigation, was sentenced to four years probation.
