Bolotnaya case defendant Panfilov was taken to a psychiatric hospital in Astrakhan

Maxim Panfilov, sentenced to compulsory psychiatric treatment in connection with the events on Bolotnaya Square on May 6, 2012, was taken to a psychiatric hospital in Astrakhan. This was reported by his mother Marina Danilkina.

OVD-Info July 15 that Panfilov was taken from the Moscow Butyrka pre-trial detention center, where he had been held since August 2016. Panfilov, who was accused of participating in mass riots that allegedly took place on Bolotnaya Square and using violence against a police officer, was declared insane during the investigation, and therefore the court decided to send him for compulsory treatment.

It became known that Panfilov suffers from Tourette's syndrome, which is characterized by various motor tics. Lawyers noted that his health had deteriorated significantly while he was in pre-trial detention. The court regularly refused to replace his preventive measure with house arrest.

Panfilov is in the Ministry of Health of the Astrakhan Region, in department No. 14 (a specialized psychiatric hospital).

In the regional clinical psychiatric hospital, Maxim Panfilov became the second defendant in the Bolotnaya case, who was sentenced to compulsory psychiatric hospitalization. The first was Mikhail Kosenko. He was in a psychiatric hospital from late April until July 11, 2014.

In June 2017, he was released from a psychiatric hospital in Chelyabinsk, sentenced to compulsory treatment after a case was opened against him for calls for separatism and posts about the need to create the Ural People's Republic. He spent more than a year and a half in the hospital and spoke in detail about what happened to him.
