Representatives of the self -proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) did not participate in a meeting to create the "state" of Little Russia. This was stated by the chairman of the People’s Council of the LPR Vladimir Degtyarenko, reports the Lugansk information center.
“We were not even aware of the intention to hold this event, this issue was not agreed with us. <...> At the moment, the expediency of such a step is very doubt, ”Degtyarenko emphasized.
According to him, "such decisions can only be made taking into account the opinion of the people themselves." Degtyarenko added that the LPR is now complies with the Minsk agreements, "alternatives that are not."
Earlier on July 18, the head of the self -proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Alexander Zakharchenko, announced a plan for creating a new “state” of Little Russia, which will become the “successor of Ukraine”. “Through the re -nation of the country,” according to Zakharchenko, it will be possible to stop the war in the Donbass.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, in response to Zakharchenko’s statement, reminded through his press secretary that the Novorossia project was “buried”. He also promised that Ukraine would restore sovereignty over Donbass and Crimea.
In turn, the director of the Center for the Political Conjuncture, Alexei Chesnakov, said that the project to create a new “state” Little Russia is not related to real politics, TASS reports .
“The project of creating Little Russia is nominated by a number of writers and bloggers close to the leadership of the DPR. In the leadership of the DPR, many consider it not serious. Therefore, this project is more literary than political, ”he emphasized.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin wrote on Twitter that Little Russia is “another booth”, which was arranged by the “Kremlin puppeteers with their Donbass puppets”. Leonid Kalashnikov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, noted that Zakharchenko understands “humanly”, but his words “cause misunderstanding” from the point of view of the Minsk agreements.
Sources of RBC, close to the administration of the President of the Russian Federation, argue that the idea of Zakharchenko about the creation of Little Russia was unexpected for the Kremlin and assistant President Vladislav Surkov. “This is the personal initiative of Zakharchenko and his close associates,” said one of the interlocutors of RBC.
