Director Andrei Konchalovsky compared the Academy Academy of the Oscar with a transnational corporation, against which it is necessary to impose sanctions - to stop raising Russian films on it.
Konchalovsky made this statement in an interview with TASS . When asked what film from Russia could be advanced to Oscar this year, he replied: “No one should be sent, we need to declare sanctions, let them live without us.”
“In general, Oscar does not exist for me. If I lived in America, I might want to get it, but why do I need an Oscar in Russia? I believe that Oscar is now - like McDonald's , this is a transnational corporation. And her quality is very doubtful, ”said the director.
“Many films awarded the Oscar, is not an art, but a product. - he believes. - Especially in the last 20 years! And there is an art that Hollywood has nothing to do. And there are a lot of talented people around the world. ”
In 2014, Konchalovsky asked not to nominate his film “The White Nights of the Postman Alexei Tryapitsin” to Oscar, since the award of the American film academy “is extremely overvalued by a certain part of the filmmakers, it creates the illusion of world recognition”.
“To fight for the possession of the Hollywood Award seems to me just ridiculous. - then the director wrote. “The very formulation of the“ Best Film Language Film ”category should cause laughter among the world artists of the world, in essence, is a segregation of world cinema from the Anglo-Front world (USA, England, Australia and New Zealand), which, in my opinion, has outlived the idea of the West about its cultural dominance.”
Last year, the Russian Oscar Committee, of which Konchalovsky came out several years ago, put forward his film “Paradise” to the Oscar Award in the “Best Foreign Language Film” category. Among the nominees in this category “Paradise” was not included, but the painting “ Forushande / The Salesman ) of Iranian director Asgar Farhadi won it.
