The State Duma approved a new procedure for choosing the head of the Russian Academy of Sciences
The State Duma in the third reading approved a bill, which transfers authority to the President of Russia on approval of the head of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). It is reported by Interfax .
Now the government is approved by the government. The acting Academy of Sciences will also be appointed by the president at the proposal of the government.
According to the initiative, the government will select candidates for president of the Russian Academy of Sciences from the nominated academics.
The procedure for the election of the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences is also changing. Now this is not necessary for two -thirds of the vote. According to the initiative, now more than half the votes will be enough for victory.
The election of the head of the Academy was to be held in March 2017, but all applicants removed their candidates from the elections. They decided to transfer them to September 27 in order to improve the procedure.
