A criminal case was instituted against the expert of the movement "For Human Rights" by Pyotr Kuryanov. This was reported by "Mediazona" with reference to the chairman of the movement of Leo Ponomarev.
Kuryanov is charged with part 1 of Article 294 of the Criminal Code (interference in the activities of the court in order to prevent the administration of justice). He faces up to two years in prison.
According to the plot of the case, Kuryanov, being a public defender in the case of a student Alzhan Gridmatov, accused of robbery, stole a sheet from the rostrum in the courtroom, in which witnesses signed responsibility for obviously false testimonies. According to Ponomarev, Kuryanov did not see this sheet in "eyes", and the initiation of the case is due to the fact that the judge of the Khamovnichesky district court of the capital Andrei Lutov wants to remove the human rights activist from the process.
In June, Kuryanov was called to the interrogator to give explanations on this case. In the movement "For Human Rights" then they stated that it was Lutov who initiated the inquiry.
Human rights activists call the case against Gimbatov, who protects Kuryanov, fabricated. The lawyer on the appointment of Evgeny Semin, who defended Gimbatov to Kuryanov, was deprived of three years of status for her violations. So, in her presence, the inquiry procedure was carried out: the victim was supposed to recognize the attacker among Gambitov, a native of the Caucasus, and two statists of the Asians.
