Donald Trump's press secretary Sean Spicer quits

US President Donald Trump's press secretary, Sean Spicer, has resigned, The New York Times reported, citing a source.

The reason for the dismissal was Spicer's disagreement with the appointment of businessman Anthony Scaramucci as director of communications for the White House, the newspaper writes. Trump suggested that Spicer continue to work, but he resigned, calling the appointment of Scaramucci a big mistake.

Spicer's resignation is reported by other publications, including the Associated Press. Later, the information was officially confirmed.

Anthony Scaramucci has a difficult relationship with both Spicer and Trump Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, according to The Washington Post.

Scaramucci was the subject of a deleted CNN posting that talked about his meeting with the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev, which was allegedly the subject of an investigation. After the article was removed from the TV channel, the author of the article and its editors left.
