Since no sensations of the format “Igor Strelkov joins the Party of Progress” or “Alexei Navalny gives the Donbass armored personnel carrier” on the debate and the host Mikhail Zygar quite rightly said that the show failed, then the main outcome of the Debats of Navalny and Strelkov should be considered their fact. In the audience of Navalny, in addition to the youth fashionable this season, there is a “adult” liberal-democratic core that has developed five or six years ago, for which the very fact of the presence of Navalny in the same room with rifle looks unacceptable-in their system of coordinates of the shooters a terrorist, a military criminal and even a villain, and the most loyal commentators managed to formulate in advance why from the part Navalny was a very wise and correct step to debate with Strelkov, the real success of Navalny in these debates is more likely to be related to his readiness and the ability to risk the loyalty of this liberal nucleus and, if necessary, neglect it with discontent. Obviously, there is some kind of element of cynicism, but there would be something completely sad to the alternative to this cynicism in modern Russian conditions: if Navalny was afraid that liberal old-wings would be disappointed in it, he would have to promise to give Crimea to Ukraine, approve the 282nd article of the Criminal Code (as the Lev Schlosberg, for example, would do much that, possibly, would have guaranteed the sympathy leaders of public opinion, and nothing more. Navalny is clearly not ready to count on “nothing”, and criticism is mixed with curses (“What can you talk about with a military criminal about?”) Obviously, he does not touch him. Moreover, now, when Navalny finally got used to the role of an indisputable and non -inferior opposition leader, and the loyalty of his supporters is at the highest “Teflon” level. And the situation is rather the opposite-defiantly neglecting the values of the nucleus of his fans, he makes them understand that he is confident than ever, and the notorious “do not reflect” today it would be more significant than five or six years ago. He even refused to call Strelkov a war criminal - which of the opposition could still afford this?
