
In the House of Representatives and Senate of the US Congress, an agreement on a new version of the bill on additional sanctions against Russia and Iran has reached an agreement. It is reported by CBS News.
The deputy leader of the Democrats in the Lower House of Stani Hoyer said that "he was pleased that in the House of Representatives and the Senate an agreement on the legislation on sanctions, which will allow Russia and Iran to answer for their destabilizing actions around the world."
The document is published on the official website, voting on it is scheduled for Tuesday July 25. It will take place according to the procedure that provides for the support of at least two -thirds of the members of the chamber. This order is used when the document is supported by representatives of both parties, and therefore there is confidence in its approval.
The bill provides for the consolidation at the legislative level of the previous orders of the US administration on sanctions, as well as the introduction of new restrictions. In addition, the bill in case of approval by the Senate and signing US President Donald Trump will allow Congress to impede the initiatives of the administration to amend the sanctions policy.
On June 14, the initial version of this bill was adopted by the Senate . 97 members of the upper house made the bill; Against - only Republicans Mike Lee and Rand Paul.
After that, the draft law was transferred to the House of Representatives, however, on June 19 , the vote was postponed there and sent the document for consideration to the Foreign Committee.
