The head of the SBU Vasily Gritsak said at a briefing that Ageeva was allowed to meet with his son in order to resume the process of releasing hostages. "The decision made is the next attempt by Ukraine to resume the process of liberation of hostages, which today is actually blocked by representatives of the so -called LPR and the DPR, and in fact the highest leadership of Russia. Their goal is political pressure on Ukraine. We urge the mother of Ageev after meeting with the son of the Russian Federation regarding the liberation of all Ukrainian hostages," the head of the SBU said.

At the same time, Gritsak noted Ageev qualified as terrorism. According to the head of the SBU, in the near future this case will be investigated.

On June 24, corporal Ageev during the battle as part of the LPR reconnaissance group was captured by the village of Zelobok . As reported in the Ukrainian 93rd separate mechanized brigade, in addition to the Russian corporal, three more LPR militants were captured. The commander of the reconnaissance group 38-year-old captain Alexander Shcherba (Alex) another militant died in battle.

The media then reported that Ageev served in the 22nd Separate Guards Brigade of the GRU special forces based not in Novocherkassk, but in Bataisk.
