The first Soviet millionaire Artem Tarasov died, Interfax reports with reference to the press service of the Yabloko party, from which he was nominated to the State Duma. Tarasov was 67 years old. When and where he will be buried, it will become known on July 24.

Artem Tarasov in 1989 became known as the first Soviet legal millionaire. He received a salary of three million rubles from his cooperative "Technique". In the same year, as the Vice-President of the Union of Cooperators proposed to issue a weekly newspaper-the Kommersant Publishing House subsequently grew out of it.

Tarasov was a deputy of the State Duma of the first convocation. He was also nominated to the governors of St. Petersburg and the Krasnoyarsk Territory, but did not win the election. In 2016, he unsuccessfully ran for the State Duma from Yabloko.

In recent years, Artem Tarasov headed the Institute of Innovation. As the entrepreneur told the weekly “Money”, his organization was engaged in the following projects: “[There is] a technology that allows you to solve the problem of hunger in the world, as it turns any organic matter into healthy protein foods for people, even sawdust. Or is there the first and only standard in the world for measuring one tenth of Nanometer. Or the technology of extending human life up to two hundred years. I applied it on myself: it is very interesting to see how events will develop in our country in the next hundred years. ”
