On April 10, Bogatov was arrested for calls for unauthorized rallies. Later he was accused of calling for terrorism (part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to investigators, a mathematician under the pseudonym "Ayrat Bashirov" posted on the Internet messages with calls to participate in an unauthorized action in Moscow on April 2.
Bogatov was the administrator of the output node of the Tor network, which allows third-party users to use the IP address of the administrator of the node. The defendant’s defense emphasized that publications with calls for rallies were made with 104 IP addresses. According to lawyers, “Ayrat Bashirov still continues to place messages with the signature“ Freedom to Dmitry Bogatov ”” on the same resource.
