Two Russian hockey players were disqualified due to doping

The International Hockey Federation on ice (IIHF) removed for two years the striker Kazan Ak Bars, three-time world champion Danis Zaripov, in whose doping industry prohibited drugs were discovered. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the press service of the Continental Hockey League.

In addition, prohibited drugs were found in the samples of the defender of the "Medveshchak" Canadian Derek Smith and the defender of Admiral Andrei Konev.

As noted, the IIHF disciplinary committee considered the cases Derek, Konev, Zaripov and, after studying all the materials, decided to remove Zaripov from participation in the competitions until May 22, 2019, Konev - until November 19, 2017, Smith - until September 2, 2018.

Thus, hockey players for these terms lose the opportunity in all competitions under the jurisdiction of IIHF, in particular, they do not have the right to act all Russian and European leagues.

On June 22, President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach said that Russia would not escape sanctions for its doping program . How serious the sanctions will be, Bach did not specify. With this issue, he explained, two MOK commissions are engaged, and the work has not yet been completed. “In order to impose sanctions, we must find out how deep the roots of the manipulation system started,” said the head of the IOC. However, Bach assured, the decision will be made in the latest in October.
