In St. Petersburg, at the metro station "Electrosila" on the evening of July 25, a line of passengers formed, who, due to a search on a metal detector, cannot get inside. This is reported by the St. Petersburg publications "Fontanka" and "Paper" .

In line, as journalists write, lined up about a hundred people. Judging by the photos and videos, the length of the queue reached 70-80 meters.

According to Fontanka, queues for entry at four St. Petersburg metro stations (Elektrosila, Spasskaya, Zvenigorodskaya and Krestovsky Ostrov) began due to the start on July 23 of an experiment to conduct checks provided for by a government decree, which was adopted after the terrorist attack in April 2017.

Those passengers who are triggered by metal detectors are sent for additional screening; at the same time, most people have metal objects, as stated in the press service of the metro.

Due to too many passengers, the station had to close the entrance several times. Passengers complained that they had to wait more than 20 minutes to get inside.

The head of the St. Petersburg metro, Vladimir Garyugin, told Fontanka that the passenger traffic at the stations selected for the experiment reaches 15-20 percent of the maximum load. “If you comply with the existing requirements at the busiest stations, the traffic situation will worsen significantly,” he said.
