The monument to Ivan the Terrible was erected in Moscow

Today, July 26, a monument to Ivan the Terrible appeared in the center of Moscow, which was previously supposed to erect in the city of Alexander Vladimir Region.

According to the website of the Russian Military Historical Society (RVIO), the monument was erected in the "Rulers" in Petroevi Lane, where the Museum of Military Form of Clothing RVIO is located.

Ivan the Terrible work of the sculptor Vasily Selivanov is located next to the bronze busts of 33 Russian statesmen “from the great princes of the period of the Old Russian state to the interim government of the time of the revolution”, created by the President of the Russian Academy of Arts of the Zuraz Tsereteli.

By the end of 2017, eight more busts of rulers will appear in the Alley - from Vladimir Lenin to Boris Yeltsin.

Initially, the installation of the monument to Ivan the Terrible was planned in Aleksandrov, but, as RVIO notes, it was “canceled due to a public discussion that was flared up around the monument, and the sculpture itself was transferred to the RVIO“ for responsible storage ”.

The first monument in Russia Ivan the Terrible in October 2016 was opened in Orel.
