The court decided to pay the human rights activist compensation for illegal detention

To the coordinator of the project "For Alternative Civilian Service!" Miroslav Mishinov, by court decision, should be paid compensation in the amount of 12 thousand rubles for illegal detention with the use of force and bringing under administrative articles. This was reported on July 25 on the website of the Coalition in Support of Human Rights Defenders with reference to human rights activist Alexander Peredruk.

“The Petrogradsky District Court satisfied the claim of human rights activist Miroslav Mishinov against the Russian Federation represented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs for illegal detention using sambo combat techniques and special equipment,” Peredruk wrote on his Facebook page. The claim was satisfied in part.

Miroslav Mishinov was detained on April 28, 2016, when he was filming a meeting of the draft board in the military registration and enlistment office. The police pulled the human rights activist to the ground and handcuffed him. Mishinov was taken to OP No. 42 in the Krasnoselsky district of St. Petersburg and charged under part 1 of Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (disobedience to the lawful demand of a serviceman) and Art. 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (petty hooliganism associated with disobedience to the lawful demand of a representative of the authorities). Under both articles, Mishinov was threatened with up to 30 days of arrest.

On May 27, 2016, the Krasnoselsky District Court of St. Petersburg dismissed both cases, finding no sufficient grounds for prosecution.
